Outpost BBS is available via telnet at bbs.outpostbbs.net. If you are an existing user, you can connect using SSH at that same address.
Don't have a telnet client? Here's a short list of recommended ones: Hyperterminal Personal Edition, Syncterm, Qodem (my personal favorite), Zap-O-Comm (ZOC), and Netrunner.
If you'd like to create an account on Outpost BBS, please log in using "bbs" (without quotes) as the name to set up your initial login. You'll first be creating an account on the Linux-based server that the BBS is hosted on. You'll need to finish that, log off, and then log back in to finish creating your BBS account. Upon initial account creation, you will be able to check out the BBS for yourself with a few restrictions: you'll have read-only access to the message bases and file bases. Once I verify your account, you'll have full access. Also, if you're a Fidonet or Micronet sysop, leave me a message letting me know and you'll have access to a few sysop-only areas. If you're an amateur radio operator, please let me know also!
You're welcome to apply for a user account, but please be aware that I do ask for identifying information as you are a guest in my home and I deserve to know who is coming in. This BBS is not some anonymous website, FTP server, or web forum. If this bothers you, please do not apply for an account. Any accounts with fake information will be deleted immediately. Please don't waste my time and yours.
